This class teaches students how to write and present an academic paper in English. In order to make the classes as helpful and praxis-oriented as possible, classes consist not only of lectures, but also of discussions of students' work and short presentations by students. For this reason, students are asked to make some preparations in advance. Specifically, during the course, students are requested each to:
(a) Bring with them a piece of written work (e.g., thesis chapter, discussion paper, M.A. dissertation). This can be a work in progress or something already completed. Please think about what you would like to bring to discuss in class. Usually, two or three pages are enough.
(b) Give a short presentation of ca. 10-15 minutes on their research. Equipment to use PowerPoint will be available. Presentations will be held on the 4th and 5th day of the course, but students are advised to think about and, if possible, start preparing their presentation before the course starts.
この授業は英語による研究論文の作成とプレゼンテーションの指導を目的とする。授業を通して学生が応用力を有効的に伸ばすことができるように、授業では講師による講義、学生の論文に関する議論、そして学生による短いプレゼンテーションを行う。このため学生は事前に準備を行う必要があり、特に授業では以下の点を守ることを要望する。
（A) 作成された論文の一部（例えば、学位論文の一章、ディスカッションペーパー、また修士論文）を持参すること。これらは執筆中の論文でも完成された論文でも構わない。授業で議論する論文を学生が選択することを要望する。通常は2ページから3ページの分量が適当である。
（B) 研究に関するおよそ10分から15分の短いプレゼンテーションを行うこと。パワーポイントは利用可能である。プレゼンテーションは第4回と第5回の授業で行うが、もし可能であれば夏季集中講義が始まる前にプレゼンテーションの準備を学生が行うことを勧める。

グローバルCOEプログラム「社会科学の高度統計・実証分析拠点構築」では、本拠点が育成する大学院生および経済学研究科院生全体の英語力強化を目的として、大学院経済学研究科2008年度冬学期の授業科目に、以下の2科目を追加開講します。受講を希望する経済学研究科の大学院生は、冬学期の履修届変更期間内に、経済学研究科事務室において履修登録手続きを行ってください。
